Song: "You & Me ft. G-Eazy"
Artist: Marc E. Bassy
“You & Me” is a mixture of reggae and rap. The song has interesting lyrics that really catch the audience's attention as it reflects upon love and the results of a failed relationship. It has a really good beat, which changes as the intro, verse and pre-chorus of the song are rap, so the beat is faster, and then the chorus is all of a sudden a bass guitar playing, which slows down the beat, and Marc E. Bassy's voice singing "If we bump into each other on a crowded street..." The unexpected change of instruments in the chorus make the song more appealing, and there is mood transformation from sad to happy is explicitly as the song starts slow and with the approaching of the chorus (in which he expresses his satisfaction with breaking up with his girlfriend), the beat gets faster and more exciting. I gave the song five stars because I think it excels in every aspect that defines the quality of a song:, it has great lyrics, a great beat, it has great singers and an addicting chorus that sticks in our heads.
The song “Jumpshot” by Darwin was recently released in early 2016, and has become exceedingly popular due to its contagious beat and surprising electronic chorus. It is also fair to say that most of this fame is due to the App "Muscial.ly", which is a social network for people to do dubs of songs with their own choreography, as well as posting covers of them singing. Because of Jumpshot's overly exciting electronic beat, which some might describe as a "mess" or "crazy", it makes people want to get up and dance to it. The song peaked at number one on Muscial.ly's "most popular songs" list, and it has remained in this position for over three weeks now. I really enjoy this song mostly because of its chorus that I can't help but dance to. it The lyrics are pretty simple and romantic, and it is very upbeat and happy. The reason I gave this song 4 stars because its lyrics are not intense at all, and it is more like a song that you would like to listen to at birthday parties and other social gatherings.
Song: "Keep it Mello ft. Omar LinX"
“Keep it Mello” is Marshmello's latest single which has over 70 million views on Youtube and has peaked on number 15 of Billboard's "Hot Dance Songs" chart. The Dj Marshmello hides his identity so the media has not yet discovered who is making all these amazing electronic songs. He has played at various music festivals, and two of his songs, Keep it Mello and Alone, have had millions of views onlines and achieved high positions on the charts. This song has a fast beat and is the kind of music that would be playing at a dance party because it holds an engaging electronic beat and a captivating chorus which at a point "drops the beat" and then all these electronic sounds keep coming in, making anyone listening want to jump around and dance. The reason I gave the song 4 stars is because although it is very engaging, the lyrics are poor and the vocals aren't good at all as they only serve as a preparation for the “drop”. Therefore, the ones who fully appreciate this song, are people that enjoy listening to the beats of songs, and the electronic instruments being played.
