Scoop: At first, why was NYU the university you wanted to attend?
Giovanna: "I never wanted the enclosed campus college experience. I didn't care for greek life and wanted to be in a place in which I could easily explore beyond where I had classes."
"NYU did not only have the perfect campus but also the perfect major. I was unsure if I wanted to go into communications, journalism or marketing and with Media, Culture, and Communication I get all that and more."
Scoop: What was your first impression to study at NYU?
Giovanna: "I felt oddly welcomed. With a school as big as NYU I thought I wouldn't be able to have close relationships with my classmates and professors, but it was far the opposite. With being such an enormous university, NYU values school pride and 1-on-1 relationships a lot. That really helped me transition from the family-like environment we had at PASB to NYU."
Scoop: How have been your experiences been as a student at NYU?
Giovanna: "I have loved every minute. I'm far more involved than I ever thought I would be: working as Orientation Leader for incoming freshmen, part of the social media team at Washington Square News, producing and hosting my own podcast at WNYU."
"Classes are amazing and the way NYU structures lectures paired with small recitations help me answer all my questions and even find study groups. I also ventured into areas I had no idea I would ever like, such as fashion and psychoanalysis."
